Oupa Minnaar - The Spirit Of Giving
Our father was a people's persons, he would give his last drop of water to someone else, should they need it.
We remember many cold nights when he went to bed and woke up the next morning, warm under a blanked with the wind howling outside and he would always say...
Imagine how cold it must have been for the people out there who are not as fortunate as we are.
He never lived a lavish live, he worked hard until he could no more due to Parkinsons. He fought Parkinson's bravely for 13 years and during that time we learnt even more valuable lessons from him. He taught us to care about your fellow human being and secondly, to never give up, no matter how bad things were. He is a Christian and his faith made him the father we all loved.
During those cold winters, he turned his words into actions and every year he would buy as many blankets as he could to hand out to people sleeping on the streets. On 24 November 2024 it was 1 year since his passing and it is in his loving memory that we do this, so that his amazing spirit of giving may continue.
